Raudi Cemetery is a large active cemetery in Ida-Viru County. It is located in the village of Konsu, Alutaguse Parish, not far from the Pühtitsa Convent.
Unlike the small historic cemeteries in the region, Raudi Cemetery is actively used and continues to expand. Here you can see both very recent burials and old family graves with crosses and monuments from different periods.
Where is Raudi Cemetery located?
The cemetery is located along the road towards Kuremäe, surrounded by pine forest. It is situated near Linajärv and Räätsma lakes and approximately several kilometres from the Pühtitsa Convent.

The official address of the cemetery is in the village of Konsu, Alutaguse Parish. Despite its rural location, Raudi Cemetery has good transport connections with the surrounding settlements.
Access and Parking
Several access roads lead to the cemetery. A large parking area is located in the central part, so visitors usually do not have to leave their cars far from the required section.

The large grounds and several entrances make it possible to reach different parts of the cemetery by car. Before visiting a particular grave, it is advisable to check its location in advance using the map or the cemetery register.
There is no chapel or other particularly distinctive building on the grounds. The main impression is created by the forest landscape, numerous burial plots and the great variety of monuments.
Visitor Facilities
There are many small bins and waste containers throughout the cemetery. This is convenient for visitors who clean the area around graves.

However, some parts of the cemetery may not look perfectly maintained. During the visit, fallen leaves had been collected into large piles, and some areas appeared rather neglected. The condition of different sections may change depending on the season and ongoing maintenance work.
Old and Modern Burials
There are many recent burials at Raudi Cemetery. The cemetery is still in use, so new graves and modern monuments continue to appear alongside the old crosses.
The gravestones vary greatly. Visitors can see small and modest monuments, traditional crosses, massive stone structures and tall monuments that are almost human-sized.
Some monuments feature images of the deceased.

The Atmosphere of Raudi Cemetery
Because it is located in a dense pine forest and contains monuments of many different sizes, the cemetery creates an unusual impression. The silence, tall trees, recent graves and large monuments create an atmosphere that may seem somewhat sombre or even eerie to some visitors.
For relatives, however, it is first and foremost an active place of remembrance, where loved ones’ graves are visited regularly and new burials take place.
