Sinimäe Cemetery map and grave search

Sinimäe Cemetery is located near Sillamäe, on the outskirts of Sinimäe, in Narva-Jõesuu municipality, Ida-Viru County. Nearby are Vaivara Old Cemetery and Vaivara New Cemetery. Their proximity is worth keeping in mind when searching for a family grave and planning your visit.

Location and access

Use the name Sinimäe kalmistu when planning your route. Sinimäe Cemetery, Vaivara Old Cemetery and Vaivara New Cemetery are listed separately on Kalmistud.ee. If family documents mention only “Sinimäe” or “Vaivara”, it is useful to establish exactly which cemetery contains the grave.

A single access road leads to the cemetery. You can also enter on foot from the neighbouring cemetery.

The grounds and paths between graves

Sinimäe Cemetery feels more crowded than the neighbouring Vaivara cemeteries. Graves are closely spaced, leaving little room between individual burial plots.

Use the existing paths when visiting. If you are carrying flowers, tools or cleaning supplies, planning your approach to the plot will help avoid unnecessary movement between graves.

Places of remembrance

Memorial to Soviet soldiers of the Second World War

This is one of the few remaining memorials to Soviet soldiers. Remains recovered by search teams are regularly laid to rest in the collective graves beside the memorial.

Finding a grave at Sinimäe Cemetery

The cemetery is connected to the Haudi system. The cemetery portal lets you search by the deceased’s first name and surname and view a map of the burial plots. Save any information you find before visiting.

If the search returns no results, try alternative spellings of the first name and surname, including versions using the Latin alphabet. Check the dates of birth and death and make sure you have selected the correct cemetery. The absence of a result in an online search does not in itself prove that the grave does not exist.
